Ok, curlfirends…there has been a lot happening behind the scenes. I’ve been dropping hints on Instagram, but I finally get to share it all with you!

You might remember me mentioning in December’s blog that I’ve been in a season of growth. I keep thinking, “I want to help more curlfriends.” More availability, more education, more chances to watch people fall in love with their curls. Last year, I took some big steps. This year? God has me leaping!

So here it is.

We are expanding the salon! As in, I’m bringing on another curly stylist (actually, she’s a trichologist too!) and knocking a wall down to open up into the suite next door. The goal is to create more space for curls in Jacksonville – more appointment openings, more hairstylists who care about your experience, and new ways to support you on your curl journey. And I’ve been dying to share it with you.

Why I Decided To Expand The Salon

This really started back in October. I have this dream of having one or more bigger curly hair salons in Jacksonville. And I was praying for the Lord to send the right people my way, the ones who would share the same heart for education, who align with my values, and how I want to care for my clients.

Then two things happened. 

First, the holiday season hit, and that was my first wake-up call. I was fully booked 6-8 weeks in advance, and people were still trying to get into the salon. I hated having to turn people away, but I could not take on more by myself. I never want to rush through your appointment or squeeze you in just to make it work. That’s not fair to you. I just kept thinking, “If there is a need and I can meet it, I want to say yes. But I need the right people.”

The second thing happened in November, when I met Jess.

On top of all of that, she’s a great person. She’s kind, she’s a fellow mom, she loves Jesus, she’s Latina, and she loves on her clients’ curls the same way I do. In so many ways, it felt like God answered my prayers with her.

So, I took the first leap and asked her to join For The Curls Jax. And she said yes! Jess will be starting in March and offering curly cuts, styling, and her signature scalp renewal treatments for our curly hair friends in Jacksonville.

Next Step: Expanding The Salon

With Jess onboard, that meant I had one more big leap to make. I had to expand the salon suite to accommodate Jess and her treatment area. Thankfully, there was space in our current building and they’re letting us knock through walls to extend the salon! Which is great because we need room for all these new services, the natural product line, and treatments Jess is bringing in.

What is a Scalp Renewal for Curly Hair?

If you are new to the idea of a scalp renewal services, think of it as a relaxing and healthy reset for your scalp.

Jess starts with a scalp analysis using a special camera so she can see what is really going on. Dryness, product buildup, dandruff, and signs of irritation – all of that shows up. Based on what she sees, she creates a tailored treatment for you that can include things like a scalp tonic, detox mask, gentle exfoliation, a moisture or protein mask, and aromatherapy, along with massage and hydration.

It’s focused on cleansing, calming, and feeding moisture onto your scalp so it can support healthy hair growth…and it feels incredible. Styling and drying are not included in the scalp renewal treatments, so if you want to leave styled, you would just book that as a separate service. 

I already recommend clarifying once a month. If it is in your budget, a monthly scalp renewal treatment in-salon is like the elevated, spa version of that routine. Some people will use it as part of their regular hair care. Others will just come in when they want a reset and a quiet hour for themselves. Both are welcome.

You can book a scalp renewal treatment and then come sit with either of us for your cut and styling, or you can simply enjoy the scalp renewal service and leave with your hair wet. There is no one right way to do it.

What This Expansion Means for You

With this expansion, you will start to see two options when you book. You can book with me, or you can book with Jess. We’ll be under the same roof, working together to support more curlfriends.

For you, this means more haircut and styling openings, more services in one place, and more room to breathe during your appointment. For me, it means I do not have to hold everything alone. I get to stay present and slow with each client while still saying yes to more of you who are ready for help.

We will be celebrating the expansion with a grand opening event on April 25th from 2 to 4 pm. I will share the final suite number and details on my website and social media as we get closer, so you know exactly where to find us and come celebrate.

This is one more step toward the bigger dream on my heart, which is to have a fuller salon home for curlfriends in Jacksonville. I am so grateful you are here for this part of the journey. I can’t wait for you to see the new space, meet Jess, and keep growing together!
