Finding the right Jacksonville curly hair stylist isn’t just about location or price — it’s about trust. And let’s be real, trusting someone new with your curls is a big deal, especially in Jacksonville, where the humidity alone is a whole personality!
I get your concern. A lot of my first-time curly clients come in nervous because their last “trim” turned into a big chop, or their curls were brushed out and cut wet. I hear it all the time, sadly. You’re not being dramatic! It’s happened to all of us.
That’s why I do things differently.
When you sit in my chair, I’m not just here to cut your hair. I’m here to listen. To ask the right questions. To teach you why your curls do what they do, and how to make them work for your real life — whether you want to style them every day or once a week and be done. I work with women, men, and kids of all curl types (wavy, curly, coily), and I’ll never gatekeep a technique or push a product you don’t need.
If you’re wondering whether I’m the right curly hair stylist for you — let’s break it down.
A stylist trained in curly haircuts isn’t just doing a “normal” haircut on curly hair. We’re paying attention to texture, porosity, curl pattern (wavy, curly, or coily), how your curls behave when it’s dry vs. wet, how you want to wear it, and what time you have to actually style in real life.
When you sit down for your Signature Curl Experience, we get detailed and I’ll ask you things like:
We talk about all of it, because it determines how we cut your hair.
Most stylists who don’t specialize in curly cuts don’t know how to approach curls with the eye to see multiple patterns, or take into account how the different patterns and textures behave. You may leave with your hair cut…but certainly not the one you were expecting!
That’s why I cut curls based on how they live, not just how they lay in the moment. And it’s not just the cut, it’s how you’re treated. So, let’s talk about that too.
First of all, this isn’t a “sit down, smile, and pray for the best” situation. When you arrive at my Jacksonville salon, I’ll greet you like a real person — not just a head of hair.
My goal is to make you feel safe. Again, I know when my curly clients first sit in the chair, they’re often nervous. Some have had their curls chopped off without warning. Others were promised “just a trim” and lost inches. A lot of people associate curly hair appointments with roughness — yanking through tangles, being rushed, and being told their hair is “too much.” That won’t happen here.
We start by talking. I’ll ask you questions (a lot of them). I’m going to lower my stool to look you in the eye so we can talk face-to-face, not through the mirror. Because when your stylist talks to you through the mirror, it can feel like they’re talking at you. (I personally hate that!) This is your hair, your experience, and I want you to feel safe, seen, and supported. I’ll repeat what I hear back to you to make sure we’re on the same page. Communication matters when it comes to curly hair. We’ve all had enough salon trauma to last a lifetime.
Then, when it finally comes time to cut and style, I cut curls depending on your hair’s needs. You’ll always know what’s going on. When I’m styling, I teach you everything I’m doing while I’m doing it — from what the products are doing to why I’m styling it a certain way. These are real-life curly hair styling tips you can take home, use again, and actually make your style last.
And if you’re new to curl care, I’ll help you figure out what works for your lifestyle, not just what looks good for one day. We can customize your curly hair routine.
Don’t want to spend an hour a day styling your hair? Let’s build a routine that works once a week.
Want more volume, less crunch, or soft curls that hold up in Florida’s humidity? I’ve got you.
I recommend products that work with Jacksonville’s humidity and are easy to find, no secret salon-only lines.
I do all this because younger Naya wished someone would have done that for her.. What happens after your appointment matters just as much as the cut. I don’t ever want you to feel like you only love your curls on salon days.
It can be hard to tell if a stylist is right for you just by going off their Instagram grid. You should come to your first appointment (or message them ahead of time) with questions. You’ll be able to sus out pretty quickly if they’re going to be kind, compassionate, and right for you by their answers.
These are the questions I’ve asked all my own stylists, and I’ll answer them the way I would any client. That way, you get the list of questions and, if you’re considering me as your new stylist, you get my answers too!
Typically, I prefer cutting curls dry. When your hair’s wet, it weighs your curls down so it almost looks straight, all the same length, and much longer than when it dries. It will dry and coil up to all different lengths. So, I cut dry first to get the shape, then once you’re fully styled and dried, I may do a little more detailed cutting.
Expect a conversation. I’ll ask about your goals, your routine, how you feel about your hair right now, and what you want to see differently. Expect education, chit chat, laughter, and someone who genuinely cares about your curls and your experience. Also, expect snacks! Always snacks.
YES! I walk you through what I’m doing so you can do it yourself. Whether you like soft volume or juicy definition, I’ll teach you how to achieve it. I want you to leave feeling empowered. We do an entire curl education chat in my Signature Curl Experience for first-time clients.
Jacksonville = humidity, heat, and unpredictable curls. I help you choose products based on your hair goals and lifestyle, like how often you want to style, whether you like soft vs crunchy, volume vs definition, etc. And I always recommend products that are easy to find (Amazon, Ulta, etc.) so you’re not chasing specialty brands all over the internet. (If you’re interested in products, go check out my product guide blog too!)
Some stylists only work with certain hair types, but I style it all. Wavy, curly, coily — I’ve got you! I work with women, men, and kids, and I’ll meet you wherever you are on your curl journey. Whether you want a full transformation, a big chop, subtle shaping, or just want to keep your texture healthy and looking its best, I’ve got you covered!

Yes, yes, yes, and yes! I’m trained to do blonding and color services that don’t damage your curls, and I love doing extensions. If your curls want it, I probably do it.
Oh, yeah! And if we haven’t met…
I believe your curls should make you feel confident, beautiful, and fierce. My clients tell me they’ve never felt so understood in a salon — and that’s the highest compliment I could receive. And if you want the quick “about me”….I’m a wife, mom, curly hair stylist, I love Jesus, good conversation, and I love showing people that curly hair doesn’t have to be overwhelming.
After all, I was that girl who always wore my hair up because I thought it was easier. Now I know how to style my hair once a week, wear the bonnet at night, do a little shake in the morning, and get on my way. That’s what most of my clients want too. You can have it easy with curly hair. I believe that 100%!
